Pumps are positioned at the bottom of the wells in deep wells. The water is pumped up through a pipe from the bottom to a discharge point. Deep well pumps are more powerful than those used for well points. Because deep wells can decrease the groundwater table at greater depths and ranges, they are installed in larger spacings. Deep wells have been used on alone or in combination with well points.
